The Noticer by Andy Andrews

The following post is a Thomas Nelson Book Review:

A mysterious old man keeps popping up when and where he is least expected. He claims he has the gift of noticing things others overlook and that "all a person needs is a little perspective." He quickly endears himself to the townspeople and positive changes result. Best-selling author, Andy Andrews, uses an experience from his own beginnings to spin a tale that has potential to inspire and challenge all of us.

This book is written with enough narrative to hold interest yet enough dialogue to challenge the reader's thinking. It encourages the reader to make a difference in the lives of others by simple interaction and by, as the title suggests, "noticing". The book inspired me to live my life with more purpose in relationship to other people, however I was a bit disappointed. I expected to discover more depth as I continued reading, but when I came to the end, I was left with the thought that anyone with any religious claim might be satisfied with it on a spiritual level. Although Biblical principles were alluded to throughout the dialogues of the book, it would not leave a seeker with the definite reference point of Jesus as the One Who can transform a life nor the Gospel as the means He uses.

  1. Thanks for sharing this book with us! Sometimes its good to remember to just interact with those around us and encourage them, with out expecting anything in return!
