Links and Book Review: Healthy Eating Edition

As recommended in Anne Elliott's health classes, I read the book, Food Is Your Best Medicine by Henry G. Bieler, M.D. It was written in 1965 and reprinted in 1988, so it was a little outdated as far as some of the health problems mentioned. It was also very evolutionary. However, as a beginning real food enthusiast, I found it interesting that he treated his patients only rarely with any medicine other than whole, natural food.

His three basic conclusions were:
1. The primary cause of disease is not germs.
2. Drugs are harmful in almost all cases.
3. Disease can be cured through the proper use of correct foods.

The last sentence of the book sums it up nicely:
"The preferred source of nutrition is food, as fresh and natural as can be obtained, not dead products standing on drug-store shelves."
