I'm scared. Sometimes, I'm terrified. Our world seems to be crumbling around us and everything is going crazy. Have you ever heard of so many natural disasters? Has there ever been more widespread violence? Have you noticed how hatred of Christians is growing? Those who dare to stand for biblical values are trashed and slandered. Questions are plentiful; answers are few. Man's reasoning is the order of the day, and it seems to win over God's Word in far too many situations, with disastrous results. What are we to do in these troubling times? How do we cope? Where do we turn for comfort? When answers don't come easily, who do we turn to? What do we believe? These events don't take God by surprise. He warned us of times like these, and He's given us His Word, His promises to cling to.

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." Proverbs 3:5

"Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God,
believe also in me." John 14:1

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you:
not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let no your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:27

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John 16:33

"From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I."
 Psalm 61:2

"What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee."
Psalm 56:3

"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." Luke 21:27-29

Some people accuse us Christians as being cowardly, of hiding behind false beliefs and burying our heads in the sand. I'll be the first to admit that I'm afraid. But that doesn't make me a coward. It just means that I know the limits of my own abilities and strength, and the unlimited power and strength of my Father. I admit that I'm hiding; but I'm not hiding behind false beliefs. I'm hiding in the Creator of the Universe, The Truth, The Rock of Ages, my "High Tower", my "Refuge" (Samuel 22:3). I'm not burying my head in the sand. I'm burying myself  in God's promises, His Word,  holding fast to the comfort He offers; trusting in His wisdom when I have none of my own. Yes, I admit it, and I'm not one bit ashamed to do so.

If you feel like I do, if you're fighting fear, take hold of these promises. If you have questions, ask Him, trust in what He says. And always, look up...be ready...He's coming soon!

In Times Like These
(Ruth Caye Jones)

In times like these, you need a Savior
In times like these you need an anchor
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock

This Rock is Jesus, Yes, He's the One
This Rock is Jesus, The only One
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid rock

In times like these you need the Bible
In times like these oh be not idle
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock

This Rock is Jesus, Yes, He's the One
This Rock is Jesus, the only One
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock

In times like these, I have a Savior
In times like these, I have an anchor
I'm very sure, I'm very sure
My anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock

This Rock is Jesus, Yes, He's the One
This Rock is Jesus, The only One
I'm very sure, I'm very sure
My anchor holds and grips the Solid rock
